GIN NOTES
Hayman's Old Tom with Burma tonic
Candied lemon peel, hints of violets and a zesty, rich palate. Sweet with gingerbread, juniper and spice.
~
Ford's with Rhubarb tonic
More aromatic and herbal with a nice floral and citrus background. The gin flows in with an oily body, with spice and citrus juniper starting a parade with juniper and the other spices following on closely and leaving a pleasantly bitter drying long finish.
~
The Botanist with Royal Botanic
The key things that will stick with you are a fresh, lemony aroma coupled with spring flowers and a touch of mint. As you taste, the gin is clean and not too oily with more of the lemon floral notes sticking out. The juniper certainly falls to a background player here, but this gin, even with the dozens of botanicals used, doesn't get muddied.
~
Scapegrace Gold with Grapefruit tonic
Initially Scapegrace Gin shows some orange, lemon and a mild pepperiness. Juniper with pine and tree facets holds court mid-palate. The combination of spices begins to lend an earthy, complex warmth. None of the individual botanicals come through and dominate on their own. It's a warm baking spice melange of coriander, nutmeg, and cinnamon.
~
Scapegrace Black with Burma tonic
Tropical yet earthy and luxurious twist on gin as we know it. Crisp and floral, with balanced citrus and freshness and a hint of spice. A candied sweet potato and pineapple finish with a smooth velvety mouthfeel bursting with citrus oils.
~
Hayman's Sloe Gin
The nose is bright ripe berries, strawberry, orange, with some sweetened citrus in the mind-notes, and some spice hints in the lower notes. But as with most sloe gins, the overwhelming olfactory character is ripe, bright fruit. The palate is bright fruit once again: plum, grilled cherries, tarts and sweet.
